The largest private tourism attraction project in Australia right now – and the biggest ever for Western Sydney, has now opened for capital raising.

Australia’s first indoor snow resort - Australia's next tourism icon - will be built at Penrith in New South Wales.

Winter Sports World will be a transformational economic engine for Western Sydney, injecting $222 million annually into the local economy and contributing $2.5 billion in economic growth over the next decade.

It will create more than 2,720 jobs, half of which will be ongoing, and become one of the biggest employers in Western Sydney.

Leveraging the strategic location of Western Sydney International Airport just 15km away, Winter Sports World will transform Western Sydney into an international tourism destination.

It will attract a conservatively estimated 1.3 million domestic visitors a year and lift the overnight stay rate in Penrith above its current level of 18 per cent.

NSW Premier Chris Minns said: “I can’t think of a better place for Australia’s first indoor ski resort than in Penrith.

“Winter Sports World will be Western Sydney’s jewel in the crown of tourism attractions, and I can’t wait to see it enjoyed by people not just from our state, but from all around Australia and beyond.”

Early works will commence in 2025 progressing towards a 2026 construction start, targeting project completion in 2028.

Winter Sports World will then take its place alongside the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb as a must-do experience for Australians and global visitors alike.

Financial forecasts predict the attraction to be cash flow positive from 2029, its first year of operation.

Managing director Peter Magnisalis said the project was “a defining moment for the region’s evolution, shifting perceptions, attracting global attention and setting the standard for future landmark developments”.

“It will put Australia on the map alongside global indoor snow destinations like Ski Dubai and Snow World Mumbai, none of which exist in the Southern Hemisphere to this scale.’’

Winter Sports World will offer a unique, year-round snow experience, combining real snow, Olympic-standard facilities and a world-class resort for all.

It will use cutting edge, industry specific green technology such as chemical-free real snow.

Australia’s first such offering will stimulate Australia’s newest tourist destination, Western Sydney, and capitalise on the growing domestic and existing global appetite for snow experiences, particularly in Singapore, Southeast Asia and beyond.

Winter Sports World will deliver real perfect snow, perfect snow conditions and perfect -4 degree C weather 365 days a year.

The largest indoor tourism attraction in Australia will remove the risk of weather dependency, thus ensuring a controlled environment every day, no downtime and reduced investment risk.

Features include:

-          A 300m advanced ski and snowboard run

-          Olympic-standard training zones

-          A large snow play area for families

-          A 200-room, 4.5-star hotel with conferencing, dining and mountain views

-          Sustainability and inclusivity design

-          8000m2 of public space and landscapes including First Nations education trails and experiences

Winter Sports World has progressed through major milestones: land has been secured, all state significant development approvals granted, a well credentialled project team established and several world leading operators have been earmarked to run parts of the operation.

Winter Sports World is the first in Australia of an asset class of this kind, giving investors first mover status.

However, indoor snow resorts have been proven tourism assets around the world since the 1920s, with more than 150 centres operating in over 35 countries across Europe, Asia and the Middle East today.

An investment and financial advisory firm has been engaged to facilitate a seed capital raising with sophisticated investors, high wealth individuals and institutions in advance of Winter Sports World finalising debt and equity financing for the project later this year.
