Winter Sports World signs MOU with world’s biggest snow operator

Australia’s first indoor snow resort is one step closer to becoming the nation’s next major tourism icon, after today formalising a partnership with global indoor snow resort leader Bonski Group, securing the operational expertise behind some of the world’s most advanced indoor snow centres.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed in Guangdong Province, China in the presence of NSW Minister for Trade Anoulack Chanthivong, underscores the growing significance of Winter Sports World.
It marks a major commercial milestone for what is currently Australia’s largest private tourism attraction under development and the most significant tourism investment ever undertaken in Western Sydney.
Winter Sports World managing director Peter Magnisalis said partnering with the world’s leading indoor snow operator validates the scale, ambition and commercial strength of the $700m project and signals growing global confidence in Western Sydney as an emerging investment destination.
“Western Sydney is undergoing the most significant infrastructure expansion in its history,” he said.
“This partnership marks a defining milestone for Winter Sports World. BONSKI’s decision to join us reflects the scale, significance and financial sustainability of this project and the confidence that international leaders have in Western Sydney as an emerging global destination.”
“This agreement gives the market a clear signal: the region is ready for globally competitive, investable tourism assets. WSW will be a transformational tourism and sports asset for Australia, injecting more than $222 million annually into the economy, creating 2,700 jobs and becoming one of NSW’s most visited paid attractions. We thank the NSW Government and Investment NSW for their strong support and acknowledge the Minister for Trade, Anoulack Chanthivong for joining us for this important milestone.”
The partnership strengthens WSW’s operational capability, bringing global expertise spanning snowmaking systems, guest experience, safety, efficiency, and technical operations.

President of BONSKI Lu Peng said WSW stands out globally as a next-generation project.
“WSW aligns perfectly with Bonski’s expertise, and we are excited to help deliver a world-leading, climate-resilient, year-round snow experience in Australia that will redefine snowplay in this market. This partnership is a major step in creating a destination that will attract families, athletes and visitors locally and from across the world.”
Strategically positioned 15km from the new Western Sydney International Airport and 60 minutes from the Sydney CBD, the project leverages the region’s expanding aviation, accommodation and population infrastructure.
Winter Sports World will serve as the region’s anchor attraction and introduce a new asset class to the Australian tourism market.
Independent modelling shows Winter Sports World will attract more than 1.3 million visitors annually, generate $2.5 billion for the NSW economy in its first decade, and create 2,700 jobs, with more than half ongoing.
The MOU with Bonski Group is expected to support further international collaboration and capital attraction into NSW and Western Sydney.
As well as a 200-room hotel, the project will include a 300m advanced ski run, beginner slopes, the largest indoor snow play area in the Southern Hemisphere, alpine hospitality, Indigenous-inspired landscaping and a kinetic “ice-blizzard” façade.
The resort will operate using real snow made of water and air and no chemicals, energy-efficient systems and net-zero operational principles.
Winter Sports World is fully approved and shovel-ready, with capital raising now open.
