ROBYN'S WORDS TO YOU
``When you've had a stroke, or any accident or disability, it's awful but you've got it and you can't do anything about it, so do your exercises and get on with your life. I've been there.
``If you can't go in the front door, you can always go around the back. I'm always going around the back.
``Persevere, really persevere, and don't let anyone stop you. Just try, just make an effort. I don't feel sympathy for people who won't try. I know that's harsh, but I can say that because I've been there.
``You've got a life to live and you only have one to lead. It may not go how you want it to, but you've got to get out there. `Woe is me' is no good to anyone.''
(Stroke Recovery Association of NSW president Robyn Artlett's right side of her body was paralysed by a stroke at age 29. Then a single mother-of-three including a newborn, she re-learned how to do absolutely everything using just her left hand.)
